Transatlantic - Kaleidoscope

This is one of the "superbands" from the late 90's: after the hipe from the charity supergroups from the 80's and the pop supergroups. This band was formed by well known men: of Neal Morse (ex-Spock's Beard), Roine Stolt ( The Flower Kings), Pete Trewavas (Marillion) and Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater).

This was a project has started by 1999 and lasted as a project until 2002, when Morse stated that 'God wants me to do something else' - he then dedicated to Christian music - but they would reunite seven years after to launch their best album so far: The Whirlwind. This album consists of a plain single of 77 minutes, and aired on 2009.

The next album, 'Kaleidoscope', crushed all the previous works, and steamed to a winning of the 'Album of the Year' at the third annual Progressive Music Awards.

This album motivated a tour from the US and Europe, including a performance at "Progressive Nation at Sea" cruise with two shows featuring some guest names of the world of rock like Jon Anderson from Yes.

Mike Oldfield

Well known at his age, and also recently when he commanded the London Olympic games opening ceremony in 2012. He showed some of his own electronic work to Richard Branson and Tom Newman, who owned "The Manor Studio" as were one of the many studio owners that received some of the Oldfield's work. He then was asked to use the studio freely for one week, when he composed the Part One of this album, in 1972

Part two was then composed months after and the full album was only published in May of 1973, featuring more that 20 different instruments, all played by Mike itself, completing a two-movement piece.
